Christmas: PINL Distributes Palliatives To TNP Host Communities

In the spirit of the yuletide season, the Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has embarked on a massive palliative distribution exercise to over 250 communities on the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) corridor.

The exercise, which kicked off in Saakpenwa, Tai local council of Rivers State, saw the distribution of food items and other household materials to 35 communities cutting across five councils of Gokana, Andoni, Eleme, Bonny, and Tai.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the consulting firm for PINL, Learn and Leadwise Resources Limited, Deborah Okumbo, the palliatives are part of the company’s corporate social responsibility packages aimed at cushioning the effect of the harsh economic situation in the country on the community people.

“We have commenced the sharing of palliatives, food items, and other materials to host communities in the Trans Niger Pipeline corridor,” Okumbo said. “The purpose of this is to first appreciate the support and corporation we’ve enjoyed from the host communities along this axis and also to solicit for more support and effort towards curbing pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and illegal bunkering.”

Okumbo explained that the initiative would last for a period of nine months and would also include other corporate social responsibility packages such as skill acquisition, medical outreach, and scholarship programs.

The Vice Chairman of Tai Council, Mrs. Barineka Kambe, commended PINL for remembering the community at such a period and charged the company to do more in the area of skills acquisition.

Responding on behalf of the benefiting communities, Emere T.E Akobe appreciated PINL for the gesture and urged them to continue to put them in their plans to maintain the cordial relationship between them and the communities.
