By Ayo Onikoyi
Ex-beauty queen and actress, Ronke Tiamiyu, surprised social media users when she marked her 37th birthday with a series of maternity photographs, breaking away from the glamorous and sultry birthday pictures often associated with Nollywood stars.
When Potpourri contacted her to find out the idea behind the unusual birthday shoot, Tiamiyu offered a simple explanation: “Because I’m pregnant.”
In her birthday message, the actress said she was not just celebrating another 365-day journey around the sun but also the new life she was bringing into the world.
“This birthday, I’m not just celebrating the woman I am today. I’m celebrating the beautiful life I’m creating, the beautiful blessings I can see and the ones still unfolding,” she wrote.
Sharing another exciting family update, Tiamiyu revealed that her son would soon become a big brother, as she was expecting a baby girl.
“On my birthday, I have one more beautiful blessing to celebrate. My little prince is officially getting promoted to big brother, and guess what? He’s getting a little sister,” she added.
Tiamiyu rose to prominence after winning the Miss Charismatic crown at the 2013 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant. Since then, she has expanded her presence in the entertainment industry as an actress, model, entrepreneur and content creator.
Beyond her work in front of the camera, she owns and organises the Miss Charismatic Nigeria pageant. She has also graced the cover of House of Maliq magazine and appeared as a guest star on the television series Flatmates, among other entertainment productions.
Describing herself as a naturally creative person, Tiamiyu has said entertainment provides an avenue for her to express different sides of her personality through beauty pageantry, fashion, blogging and modelling.
She explained that her interests cut across several aspects of the industry, adding that people who know her primarily as a beauty queen might be surprised by her writing, particularly her blog, where she discusses news and current affairs in Nigeria and around the world.
