Spoken word artist, poet, author, and journalist Tofarati Ige, popularly known as Grand Tycoon, says men who depend only on money to attract women lack confidence and substance.
In a recent chat, the creative argued that while financial stability matters, it should not be the main tool for winning a woman’s affection. He said self-confidence, charisma, and what he calls “steeze” are more powerful.
“As a man, you should have a sweet approach, using the right words to grab a woman’s attention. Real women want to be wooed. They want you to say sweet things and blow their minds,” he said.
Grand Tycoon said courtship should be intentional and thoughtful, not transactional. He stressed that women value emotional intelligence, creativity, and genuine effort over flashy displays of wealth.
“Money is part of life; nobody is denying that. But if that’s all you have to offer, then you need to work on yourself. Presence, confidence, and how you carry yourself matter a lot. Some men think throwing money around is the shortcut, but real connection goes beyond that,” he added.
Known for weaving social commentary into his performances, he noted that modern dating has become overly materialistic, with many young men feeling pressured to prove their worth financially before building a connection.
He urged men to develop their personality, communication skills, and self-worth, saying attraction built on authenticity lasts longer than one built on spending power.
The creative also advised women to look beyond material gestures when choosing partners. “Meaningful relationships thrive on mutual respect, understanding, and emotional depth,” he said.
