PSG ‘want more’ after winning second Champions League title

PSG player Desire Doue celebrates with the UEFA Champions League trophy as he collects his winners medal after his team's victory in the UEFA Champions League Final 2026 match between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal FC at Puskas Arena on May 30, 2026 in Budapest, Hungary.

PSG star Desire Doue says the club want to win even more trophies after beating Arsenal on penalties to claim their second successive Champions League title.

Gabriel missed the decisive spot kick after the game finished 1-1 after extra-time in Budapest, skying the Gunners’ fifth and final kick over the bar.

The Parisian outfit are now just the second team to successfully defend the trophy after Real Madrid since the competition rebranded in 1992.

Arsenal got off to the perfect start on Saturday evening when Kai Havertz fired them into the lead in the sixth minute.

The north Londoners limited PSG to very few chances in the opening half, but a critical error at the back allowed the French club back into the game in the second half.

Cristhian Mosquera conceded a penalty just after the hour mark when he caught Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from behind in the box. The defender was lucky not to be sent off and was taken off by Mikel Arteta after Ousmane Dembele converted the penalty to level matters.

Neither side could find a winner in normal or extra time and so the game went to a shootout. Arsenal blinked first when Eberechi Eze sent his attempt wide of the post, but David Raya pulled off a brilliant save to stop Nuno Mendes immediately after.

Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli both found the target either side of Achraf Hakimi’s finish before substitute Lucas Beraldo scored to put the pressure on Gabriel.

The Brazilian needed to convert to send the shootout to sudden death, but instead ended Arsenal’s dream of winning the competition for the first time ever.

“We are so, so proud, so happy and grateful,” Doue told TNT Sports after the final whistle. “It was a tough game against a good team. We have to enjoy this as a team as a family because we deserve it.

“Look at the crowd! I thank my lord and saviour Jesus Christ because that was my prayer.”

Doue, who scored PSG’s second penalty in the shootout, added: “I try to stay calm every penalty I take. I scored, so it’s amazing.”

Asked what this win means for PSG, Doue responded: “We have to stay humble. It’s crazy. We are going to work again. We want more. We are young, we are hungry and we are ambitious.”
