Real Madrid alerted as Ruben Dias reportedly seeks Man City exit
Ruben Dias could be at the centre of one of the summer’s defining battles, with Manchester City facing a fight to keep one of their cornerstones.
According to CaughtOffside, the Portugal defender has been left unsettled by Pep Guardiola’s departure and has instructed his agent to explore options for a move away.
The report claims Dias is seeking a fresh challenge after the upheaval at the Etihad, and that his change of stance has reignited interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all said to be monitoring his situation closely.
Real Madrid alerted as Ruben Dias seeks fresh challenge
It is a familiar name on the move list. Dias has been linked with the exit door before, with Chelsea among those credited with interest last summer. What has changed is the backdrop.
Guardiola’s exit after a decade in charge is expected to trigger a wider reshaping of the squad, and Dias appears to be one of the first high-profile names caught up in the uncertainty.
His contract complicates any deal, however. The 29-year-old signed terms running until 2029, and City’s financial muscle leaves them under no pressure to sell.
His market value sits around €60m, a figure that would represent something of a bargain for a defender of his standing and leadership.
There is a clear logic to the suitors, too. Real Madrid, in particular, are searching for long-term answers at centre-back as veterans David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger move on, and Dias’s pedigree fits that brief neatly.
Spanish reports have gone further still, with outlets including El Nacional and El Debate suggesting agent Jorge Mendes has already offered the defender to the Bernabéu.
For now, this remains speculation rather than a concrete bid. City hold the stronger hand thanks to the contract length.
But a player pushing for a new challenge changes the calculation. With Europe’s elite circling, it could yet become one of the standout sagas of the window.
