By Edwin Philip, Lafia

LAFIA — The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass, theft and unlawful possession of a firearm in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement on Sunday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Rahman Nansel, said the incident was reported at about 10:30 a.m. on May 30, 2026, at the Keffi Divisional Headquarters by a resident of Kofar Hausa.

The complainant alleged that one Shafiu Abdul-Rauf of the same area unlawfully entered his room and, upon being discovered, fled with his Android phone.

Following the report, detectives launched an intelligence-led operation which led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Shafiu Abdul-Rauf, and another suspect, Usman Abdulmumuni, both residents of Mayanka, Keffi.

According to the statement, a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge, two cutlasses, one knife, two Tecno Android phones, one Itel phone, a bunch of keys and other items.

The Command said the suspects are currently in custody while investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in other criminal activities.

It added that the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the officers for their swift response and professionalism in the operation.

Mohammed assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist security operations across the state.
