Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, was relieved to win their first game at the 2025 Club World Cup.

Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku scored in the first half, as City defeated Wydad Casablanca 2–0 in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Guardiola, speaking to Channel 5, said: “The first game in the group stages is always the tricky one. We learn from here and the second one will be better.”

Guardiola also spoke about the red card shown to Rico Lewis in the 88th minute of the match.

“He touches the ball. He never had any intention to do it. It is what it is,” he said.

Manchester City face Al Ain of the UAE on Monday at 2:00 BST (2 am WAT) and Juventus on Thursday at 20:00 BST.
