SMEDAN Partners Akpabio To Provide Free Medical Care In Akwa Ibom

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in partnership with the Office of the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has organised a free medical outreach for business owners and potential entrepreneurs in selected communities of Akwa Ibom state.
The medical outreach covers ten local government areas of Essien Udim, Ikot Ekpene, Obot Akara and Ini and Ikono Local Government areas of the state
Others are Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Ukanafun and Oruk Anam local government areas, all in Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district which the Senate President represents.
It has provided beneficiaries with free clinical diagnosis, free consultation, free drug prescription as well as free business counselling.
According to Mr Charles Odii, the Director General of SMEDAN, the medical outreach programme is expected to create an impact on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in several ways which are avenues for wealth creation and poverty alleviation.
He said the medical outreach programme would help MSME employees access healthcare services, leading to improved health and reduced absenteeism as well as boost productivity
“Healthy employees are more productive, leading to increased efficiency and better-quality work, reduced healthcare costs,” he said.
He explained that by providing free medical outreach, MSMEs can reduce their healthcare costs, as employees will be less likely to require expensive medical treatments adding that an enhanced employee morale and it demonstrates a company’s commitment to employee well-being, leading to increased job satisfaction and morale.
The outreach, which began in Obot Akara at Primary School, Nsebe by the local government council while it took place Urban Primary School, Uyo road in Ikot Ekpene local government.
