Osimhen Rewards Remo Stars With N10m For Winning NPFL Title

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has rewarded the players, and coaching staff of Remo Stars with a sum of N10 million for winning the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League title.
Osimhen made the donation during a phone conversation with the team’s coach, Daniel Ogunmodede on Tuesday.
The Galatasaray forward gifted the players N5m, another N5m to the technical crew.
Remo Stars won their first-ever NPFL title with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday to with three matches to go.
The win took their tally to 68 points from 35 games to open up a 10-point lead over second-placed Rivers United.
Out of 35 matches, they have won 16, drawn 10, and suffered nine defeats to emerge champions.
Remo Stars made history as the first privately owned club to win the title since Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996.
It is also the first time a South West club has claimed the title since the Julius Berger won it two decades ago.
Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, hailed Remo Stars for winning the title for the first time in their history.
The Governor was full of praise for the team’s commitment, and determination which earned them the historic title.
Abiodun, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade on Tuesday urged other NPFL clubs to emulate the Ogun State-based club.
The statement read: “It is my utmost delight that the age-long perseverance and consistency of the Remo Stars Football team have eventually paid off at the national level and to the admiration of every Nigerian, including our amiable President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“As the first privately-owned NPFL champions since 1996, who ceremoniously secured a place in the CAF Champions League, we commend the undiluted and unwavering determination of the players, the coaching staff, as well as the entire management.
“This is indeed the clear reflection of the profound trait of Ogun State as the first in all areas of success and our all-inclusive policy of transformation as enshrined in our ISEYA mantra.”
Remo Stars will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League next season.
