New 21Shares XRP ETF Signals Deeper Institutional Embrace of XRP

Swiss-based digital asset manager 21Shares has expanded its product suite with the launch of a new XRP exchange-traded fund, known as TOXR, giving investors a regulated and straightforward route to gain exposure to the XRP market. The product, which has received approval from Cboe, represents another step in the steady integration of digital assets into traditional financial systems and portfolios.

The TOXR ETF is designed to appeal particularly to investors who want access to XRP without the technical demands of owning and managing a personal crypto wallet. By offering a structure that prioritises liquidity, transparency and regulatory compliance, 21Shares aims to bridge the gap between conventional investment channels and the fast-evolving crypto market. This approach reflects a broader shift among asset managers seeking to make digital assets more accessible to institutional and retail participants alike.

The timing of the launch aligns with accelerating growth across the XRP exchange-traded product landscape. Over recent months, demand for crypto-linked ETPs has increased as regulatory clarity improves in key jurisdictions. XRP, in particular, has benefited from clearer definitions around its status, encouraging major financial firms to introduce new investment vehicles tied to the asset. While European markets adopted XRP-linked products earlier, momentum in the United States has added fresh scale and visibility to the sector.

Current market data highlights how quickly this segment is maturing. Spot XRP ETFs and ETPs collectively manage close to $900 million in assets, with hundreds of millions of XRP tokens now held in institutional custody. This accumulation has effectively reduced the liquid supply of XRP in the open market, a dynamic that analysts believe could offer longer-term price support if demand continues to rise. Competing products from established names such as Grayscale, Bitwise and Franklin Templeton underline the increasingly competitive environment into which TOXR is entering.

Despite short-term price fluctuations, XRP remains one of the largest digital assets by market capitalisation. At around $2 per token at the time of reporting, it continues to hold a prominent position in the crypto market, supported by ongoing development across the XRP Ledger ecosystem. Recent innovations, including the rollout of the RLUSD stablecoin, signal efforts to broaden XRP’s utility beyond its traditional role in cross-border payments.

The introduction of the TOXR ETF reinforces XRP’s growing role within regulated financial frameworks, placing it alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum as a core digital asset for institutional exposure. As more compliant products reach the market, the boundary between traditional finance and blockchain-based assets continues to narrow, offering investors increasingly familiar and convenient ways to participate in the digital economy.
