HYPREP Committed To Job Creation Through Skills Development- Prof Zabbey
The Project Coordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, has reaffirmed the project’s commitment to creating jobs and addressing unemployment in Ogoniland.
According to the project coordinator in a speech to commemorate Workers’ Day, HYPREP will continue to create jobs at its project sites through various skill acquisition and employability enhancement training programmes.
Prof. Zabbey noted that the commissioning of its ongoing projects will create more jobs, thereby contributing to the reduction of unemployment in the region.
This development, he said, is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and improve the livelihoods of Ogoni people.
He said, “HYPREP will continue to create jobs at our project sites through various skill acquisition and employability enhancement training.
“Therefore, we salute the workers’ dedication to service. We are also pleased to note that commissioning these projects will create more jobs, thereby addressing unemployment in the region.”
Prof. Zabbey, in his statement, also emphasised the project’s commitment to creating a safe and productive work environment that promotes job satisfaction and self-attainment.
He added that HYPREP places a high premium on workers’ welfare and continuous human capacity development in its project coordination office and project sites.
He further stated that the project has made significant strides in job creation and skills development, with over 7,000 direct and indirect jobs created across Ogoni, noting that all the projects have helped develop the skills and capacities of youths and women, particularly in environmental remediation.
According to him, the effort has contributed to tackling unemployment and improving local economies, ultimately positively impacting the Human Development Index (HDI).
He added: “Furthermore, we are mindful of the benefit of creating a safe and productive work environment that engenders job satisfaction and self-attainment in the public interest. We place a premium on workers’ welfare and continuous human capacity development in the Project Coordination office and at our project sites.
“More so, HYPREP has, through its numerous projects across Ogoni, created over 7,000 direct and indirect jobs and helped develop skills and capacities of the youth and women, especially in environmental remediation. By this, we are tackling unemployment and its attendant effects, fundamentally improving local economies, and positively impacting the Human Development Index (HDI).”
He assured that HYPREP is working diligently to ensure the timely completion and commissioning of various ongoing projects, including the Centre of Excellence, Ogoni Specialist and Buan Cottage Hospitals, the Ogoni Power Project, and additional water projects.
