Borno Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid

The Borno State Police Command on Tuesday announced the resumption of Naziru Abdulmajid as the 43rd Commissioner of Police in the state.

Addulmajid succeeds CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, who retired from active service on June 8, 2025.

The new CP joined the Nigeria Police Force on August 16, 1996, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C/ASP), Course 19.

Upon assumption of office, CP Abdulmajid assured Borno residents of their safety.

He pledged commitment to professional policing practices, engagement with local communities, and a firm stance against corruption, according to the statement by the Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.

“In line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, he (Abdulmajid) is also committed to upholding professionalism, promoting community-friendly policing, and maintaining zero tolerance for corruption.

“The Command calls on the good people of Borno State to extend their full cooperation to the new Commissioner of Police as he works to ensure peace, security, and public trust across the state.”

Abdulmajid hails from Daura Local Government Area in Katsina State.

A graduate of Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, he holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Geography.

Abdulmajid has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles across multiple commands in Nigeria.

His experience spans:

Conventional policing in Plateau, Katsina, Kano, Borno, and Lagos State Commands

Unit Commander, 36 PMF, Kebbi State

Assistant Commissioner, State CID, Nasarawa State

Area Commander, Hadejia, Jigawa State

Commander, 24 PMF, Presidential Escort, Abuja

Deputy Commissioner, Department of Operations, Akwa Ibom State

Deputy Commissioner, ‘X’ Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna State.

Before his redeployment to Borno, Abdulmajid served as Commissioner of Police (Admin), ICT, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the Borno Police Command, the senior officer has also attended key professional development courses, including the Junior and Intermediate Command Courses at the Police Staff College, Jos, and Mobile Police Training in Gwoza.
