Manchester City centre-back to complete Inter move after Serie A win
Manuel Akanji’s loan move to Inter Milan from Manchester City will automatically be made permanent following the Italian side’s title success.
Inter were crowned Serie A champions at the weekend after 2-0 win over Parma at the San Siro.
The club’s Scudetto success under Cristian Chivu means a mandatory purchase clause in Akanji’s loan has now been triggered.
Inter will pay Manchester City a fee of €15m (£12.9m) for the Switzerland international, who has made 44 appearances for the Nerazzurri across all competitions, scoring twice, this season.
The 30-year-old has appeared in 33 of the club’s 35 league fixtures, making 31 of those appearances from the start.
Akanji’s Serie A success is the fifth league title he has won during his club career. The centre-back twice lifted the Premier League with Manchester City, alongside two Swiss Super League titles at FC Basel.
