England missing up to five players for Norway clash

England could be missing up to five players for Saturday’s clash with Norway in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Three Lions advanced to the last eight of the competition with a dramatic 3-2 win over Mexico at the Azteca in the round of 16 on Monday.

That has set up a meeting with Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard in Miami this Saturday, with a place in the semi-finals on the line.

England, however, could be without a number of key players due to illness and injury, disrupting the team’s preparation for the game.

Two men who will definitely play no part against Norway are Jarell Quansah and Jordan Henderson.

Former Liverpool defender Quansah is serving a two-match ban after receiving a red card against Mexico in the last round, while Brentford midfielder Henderson is ruled out with an arm injury he picked up in the post-match celebrations.

Declan Rice has reportedly missed two days of training with an illness, according to The Times. The Arsenal star has been kept away from the rest of the squad as a precaution.

Marc Guehi has also sat out the past two days of training due to a “slight hamstring injury”, though Tuchel is “hopeful” that both the Manchester City defender and Rice will be available for selection.

Reece James did not train with the squad on Wednesday and remains a doubt to face Norway. The Chelsea right-back has been sidelined by a hamstring injury he picked up during the goalless draw with Ghana in the group stages.

Jude Bellingham, Rice and Guehi are all on yellow cards and at risk of missing the next if they get a booking.
