NWFL playoff: Remo Stars, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens win on opening day

Holders Edo Queens fell to a 1–0 defeat against Remo Stars Ladies in their opening fixture of the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, Super Six playoff.

Olasubomi Ogundele scored the winning goal two minutes from time.

It was Remo Stars’ first-ever victory over Moses Aduku’s side.

Former champions Bayelsa Queens got their campaign off to a winning start with a 1–0 victory over Rivers Angels.

Alaba Olabiyi’s 34th-minute strike separated both teams on the day.

Ifeoma Ikenokwalu missed a penalty for Rivers Angels in the 51st minute.

In the day’s other fixture, Nasarawa Amazons defeated Naija Ratels 2–1.

Rita Tsebee gave Naija Ratels the lead after 13 minutes.

Jenat Akekeromowei equalised for Nasarawa Amazons five minutes before the break, while Josephine Mathias netted the decisive goal in the 55th minute.

Matches will resume in the Super Six tournament on Monday.
