He’s special – Ryan Giggs names best player he ever played with
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has named Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player he ever played with during his career.
Giggs described Ronaldo as the “best player” in the game, adding that he is a special footballer.
He remarked when asked by former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand where Ronaldo ranks among the best players he had played alongside.
Giggs, Ferdinand, and Ronaldo were teammates at Manchester United in the past.
“He’s the best,” Giggs said when asked by Ferdinand if he believed the Portuguese forward was better than Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.
“I remember sprinting across in one game in the winter, and I took Cristiano out, and the manager had gone mad.
“I have gone, ‘it’s a tackle, gaffer,’ and he is gone, ‘I know, yeah, but just take care. He is a special player.’
“The first year was hard for him, where if he took too many touches he was getting kicked. The gaffer was not giving fouls.”
While Giggs and Ferdinand have since retired from professional football, Ronaldo currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is now in the twilight of his career at the age of 40.
