Tinubu Inaugurates Jahi-Gwarimpa Interchange

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday commissioned a road linking Jahi and Gwarimpa districts in Abuja.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Jahi District, Tinubu said the interchange would improve mobility, reduce travel time and enhance security across key districts of the nation’s capital.

He noted that the junction had long been a major traffic bottleneck, causing gridlock across areas including Maitama, Gishiri, Jahi and Gwarimpa.

According to him, the new infrastructure will facilitate faster movement of goods and services, enable workers and students to reach their destinations more efficiently, and strengthen security by reducing traffic-related vulnerabilities.

He stressed that infrastructure development remains central to his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that road projects are critical to unlocking economic opportunities and improving citizens’ quality of life.

“Today I am proud to stand here to commission this interchange at Arterial Road N16 – linking Jahi District to Gwarimpa District of the Federal Capital Territory.

“This is not just a bridge and slip roads. This is freedom of movement. This is time returned to our people. This is Renewed Hope you can drive on. This intersection used to choke Abuja.

“Gridlock stretched from Maitama to Gishiri, from Jahi to Gwarimpa. Hours were lost. Fuel was wasted. Businesses delayed. Today, that story ends. This interchange opens up critical districts of the Federal Capital City and connects them smoothly to the rest of the Territory.

“Goods will now move faster. Workers will get home earlier. Students will get to class on time. Security will improve because criminals thrive where traffic stands still. Ladies and gentlemen, Infrastructure is the foundation of prosperity.

“Roads are the arteries of a nation. When we connect districts, we connect destinies. That is the logic of the Renewed Hope Agenda: build the roads, unlock the economy, and let Nigerians thrive,” the president said.

Tinubu commended residents of Jahi, Gwarimpa, Katampe and neighbouring communities for their patience during the construction period, urging them to protect public infrastructure and fulfil their civic responsibilities, including the payment of taxes.

He also praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for driving infrastructure development across Abuja and implementing projects aimed at improving transportation and connectivity within the territory.

Similarly, the President acknowledged the contributions of the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration team for their support in delivering key projects.

Tinubu further commended the contractors, CBC Global, for completing the project on schedule and for creating employment opportunities for Nigerian youths during construction.
