Club World Cup: Gittens to play for Dortmund after Chelsea move collapses

After a move to Chelsea fell through, Borussia Dortmund have added Jamie Gittens to their squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.

The Blues tried to sign Gittens ahead of the tournament which begins this weekend, but Dortmund rejected a £42m offer.

Both clubs were unable to reach an agreement before the 7pm deadline on Tuesday, as the first summer transfer window closed.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea will try to sign Gittens again this summer, with the window reopening on Monday.

If Dortmund didn’t include the 20-year-old in their squad, Chelsea would have been able to add him to their squad, thanks to an in-tournament registration period after the group stages.

It is understood that the Bundesliga side are demanding almost £55m [€65m] for the player.
