Ballon d’Or: He should remain humble – Spain manager Luis de la Fuente speaks on Yamal winning award
Head coach of Spain’s national team manager, Luis de la Fuente, has backed Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or in his career as a footballer.
He also advised the Spain youngster to be humble because he is still developing in the game.
Speaking to the media, the 63-year-old insisted that the 17-year-old has a great future ahead of him.
“He [Lamine Yamal] is a player with a great future, but he’s still developing,” he said (via Tribal Football).
“It’s a process, to deserve the Ballon d’Or. There are other very good players too.
“I don’t know if he’ll win it this 2025, but I’m sure he’ll win it. We’ve to analyse his rivals.”
Yamal is expected to compete with the likes of team-mate Raphinha, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele, among others for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
He netted 18 goals and provided 25 assists in all competitions for Barcelona last season as they won LaLiga and Copa del Rey.
