Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, has mocked Manchester United, suggesting the Red Devils could end up relegated next season.
The prime minister issued a warning to Ruben Amorim’s team after the Red Devils suffered defeat against ASEAN All Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday,
Manchester United finished slightly above the relegation zone in the Premier League this season.
They were also defeated by Tottenham Hotspurs in the final of the UEFA Europa League thereby ending the season on a very sad note for their fans.
This has now drawn concern from their friendly game hosts ahead of the coming season.
Manchester United were beaten in front of 72,000 fans in their preseason tour.
The Malaysian PM commented on Facebook, saying, as quoted by the Mirror, “Oh no! Manchester United failed to win a trophy again.
“Looks like you guys are going to have a ‘headache’ next season. Hopefully you don’t get relegated to the Championship.”
