INEC Begins Ward Collation Of Ekiti Election Results

Collation of results in the Ekiti State governorship election has moved to ward centres as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins the next stage of the process.

THE WHISTLER monitored proceedings at Ward 4 collation centre, located at Jonathan Memorial African Church in Ado-Ekiti, where INEC presiding officers submitted results from polling units within the ward.

At Polling Unit 13, A.U.D. Primary School/Ibukun Olu in Ado-Ekiti, the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded 140 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 5 and 7 votes respectively.

At Polling Unit 04, located in front of Omesi Medicine Store near Olokun Compound, Ado-Ekiti, APC polled 147 votes, PDP scored 2 votes, and ADC recorded 1 vote.

Some presiding officers who spoke with THE WHISTLER under anonymity alleged cases of intimidation during the voting exercise.

A corps member deployed to one of the polling units alleged attempts were made to influence the process.

“There were cases of intimidation of us in order to compromise,” the officer said while displaying result sheets at the Ward 4 collation centre.

Another presiding officer said voting began peacefully before alleged incidents of financial inducement led to disagreements among voters.

“Voting started peacefully until financial inducement began which led to arguments and clashes. But it was brought under control by the police,” the officer said.

He also said voter turnout was low at the polling unit, adding that only a small number of registered voters participated in the exercise.
