U20 World Cup: Flying Eagles Defeat Saudi Arabia, Face Colombia Next

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles continued their quest at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup with a hard-fought victory over Saudi Arabia, booking a crucial showdown with Colombia in their next fixture.

Saudi Arabia tied the score twice in the match until Flying Eagles captain Daniel Bamayi’s brilliantly executed penalty kick gave coach Aliyu Zubairu’s team the victory.

Saudi Arabia and the Flying Eagles entered the match fresh off losses to Colombia and Norway, respectively. Saudi Arabia lost to Colombia by the same score as the Flying Eagles, who were defeated 1-0.

Even though the Flying Eagles defeated Saudi Arabia 3-2, former Nigerian international Ifeanyi Udeze noted that long balls were a concern for the team in his post-victory remarks.

Udeze bemoaned the Flying Eagles’ inability to handle the long balls, which went into their backline and resulted in the two goals they gave up during the game.

“Congratulations to the Flying Eagles. The most important thing is the three points, but they need to do some corrections because long ball is a problem for them,” Udeze said on Brila FM.

“Against Saudi Arabia, long balls were a big problem for the team, so the coach needs to look into that and correct it.”
