TikTok’s owner, ByteDance, Set to Use Huawei Chips New AI Model

According to reports, the owner of TikTok intends to employ a domestic chipmaker for an artificial intelligence model it is creating, even as the United States tightens export restrictions on China.

The Chinese corporation will choose the Ascend 910B over Nvidia’s CPUs due to the tight export regulations imposed by US authorities on trade.

H20 AI processors from NVIDIA, which were created for the Chinese market and escaped the trade limitations imposed by the US government in 2022, were previously employed in ByteDance’s AI efforts.

The restriction on the kind of AI chips that Chinese consumers might buy was an attempt to impede the rapid growth of technology in China.

Due to US regulations, many Chinese companies are now looking to Huawei for AI chipsets.

Newsng understands that hypothesis applies to ByteDance as well.

According to a recent report, ByteDance intends to use Huawei chips for the development and training of their large language AI model.

The news has not yet been verified by ByteDance.

Despite this, three individuals with knowledge of the situation stated that the app developer may make this significant advancement in the AI race. It’s still uncertain, according to another insider, whether Huawei processors will be utilised.

Meanwhile, a TikTok spokesperson – Michael Hughes responded on this matter, saying: “The entire premise here is wrong. No new model is being developed.”

Emiko Matsui of Huawei Central noted that it’s unclear how things stand in general with ByteDance and Huawei’s collaboration on a new AI model.

More information, however, may soon shed light on the situation. The ByteDance AI model based on Ascend 910B would undoubtedly help Huawei reach new heights in the AI chip market.
We earlier reported that a national security restriction on the use of some auto parts manufactured in China and Russia on American roadways beginning in 2027 has been proposed by the U.S. Commerce Department.
