Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta and striker Bukayo Saka have showered encomiums on the team following their impressive 2-0 win over PSG on Tuesday night.

The Gunners recorded a stunning performance at the Emirates Stadium to brush aside PSG thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka in the first half.

Havertz opened the scoring for the hosts with a well-placed header in the 20th minute before Saka added the second goal 15 minutes later.

Arteta believes the victory will raise the confidence and the belief of the players ahead of other tough fixtures.

He said: “It raises the confidence and the belief that we can compete with any team at that level in European competition.

“We showed a lot of maturity in the way that we played, and we put our stamp on the way we want to behave in Europe against the top teams.

“The players feel that we are going in the right direction. They believe in what we are doing, which is a great sign.

“It is a night to be really happy because we played one of the best teams in the world, and to be able to perform and win in the way that we did is a really good sign for this team.”

Arteta also reserved special praises for Kai Havertz, who scored his fifth goal of the season in the encounter.

He said, “He has been unbelievable. His football brain, the way he understands space, his timing, he brings people together.

“His work ethic is incredible and now he is a real threat around the box. He is one of our main players at the moment.”

Similarly, Arsenal’s star, Bukayo Saka has revealed that this is the club’s year to end their near failure pattern after falling short of silverware in the last two seasons.

He said, “I don’t want to put too much pressure on us but I think this is the year (that we can win the title).

“I think we’ve been close the last two years and we’re getting closer but this hopefully will be the year.”

The Gunners played out a goalless against Atalanta in their first match in the Champions League, they will be back in action against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates Stadium on October 22nd.
