TCN Restores Power Supply To Bayelsa, Rivers One Month After

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Monday announced that it has successfully restored bulk electricity supply to the national grid through the 132 kV Owerri–Ahoada transmission line.

This, the company said, followed the completion of repair works on infrastructure damaged by vandalism.

THE WHISTLER reports that power supply to Bayelsa State and parts of Rivers State was disrupted on March 11 when four transmission towers collapsed as a result of vandalism.

However, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, in a statement she issued in Abuja, said the transmission line was reconnected to the grid on April 11 at about 6:00 p.m.

She said, “This comes after completing reconstruction efforts due to vandalism that caused the collapse of four transmission towers.

“With this restoration, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) is now able to supply electricity to Bayelsa State and parts of Rivers State.

“These areas had been experiencing outages since towers 71 to 74 on the transmission line route were vandalised on March 11, 2025.

She reiterated TCN’s commitment to delivering stable and reliable electricity across Nigeria and called on communities to support efforts in safeguarding critical power infrastructure against acts of vandalism.
