Strong Trading Week Opener on NGX as N40.26bn Turnover Drives Triple-Digit Trading Surge

Strong Trading Week Opener on NGX as N40.26bn Turnover Drives Triple-Digit Trading Surge

A total of 1.152 billion shares were traded on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) in 77,726 deals, as market value reached N40.262 billion on the first trading day of the week, news.ng reports.

According to market data, there was an improvement in the volume of shares traded by 106%. Also, turnover hit 110%, with deals increasing by 57%.

The current market capitalisation of the NGX stands at N130 trillion.

Out of the 133 listed equities that participated in Tuesday’s trading, 23 companies recorded gains, while 38 closed the day at a loss.

On the gainers chart, Trans-Nationwide Express led with a 9.86% share price appreciation, closing at N3.12 per share, followed by Omatek Ventures, which gained 9.76% to close at N2.25 per share.

Other gainers include Cadbury Nigeria, which recorded a 9.53% appreciation in its share price to close at N75.25 per share, followed by First HoldCo, which gained 9.1% to close at N54.55 per share.

On the losing side, Ellah Lakes recorded the biggest loss with a depreciation of 10%, closing at N10.80 per share, followed by Daar Communications, which lost 9.95% to close at N1.72 per share.

Chams declined by 9.87% to close at N3.38 per share, while John Holt saw a decrease of 9.71% to close at N13.95 per share.

Wema Bank recorded the highest trading volume with 283 million shares, followed by Access Holdings with 125 million shares. VFD Group traded 107 million shares, while First HoldCo recorded 63 million traded shares.
