PSG coach Luis Enrique has revealed that his players won’t be complacent in the second leg after securing a vital 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal of the encounter in the fourth minute to give the French champions a first-leg advantage going into the second leg in France.
PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was in an inspired form to deny the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard while Mikel Merino’s effort was ruled out for offside.
Enrique is confident that the players will not get carried away by their first leg advantage.
He said: “The players will not get carried away. I think we showed the mentality that we show in every match and that mentality is a great pleasure for me to see as coach of Paris Saint-Germain.
“I can’t complain because it was a game with a lot of strong emotions.
“It is difficult to play in that atmosphere, which was incredible. I think the goal early in the game was important for our confidence and I am happy because you can win or lose a game, but the mentality and ambition that our team shows is incredible.”
A draw in the second leg will book PSG’s place in the Champions League final for the second time in their history.
Enrique is confident that the players will control their emotions to advance in the tie.
He said: “They know how difficult it is to win a game like this. We need to try to control our emotions, and play our game in front of our supporters, make the most of the strength they give us. It will be tight, but we will be ready.
Dembele, who scored the only goal for PSG came off in the second half injured, Enrique is hoping he will be fit for the second leg.
He said: “I don’t know if he will be ready. If Ousmane can play it’s better, but we will still have a proper team even if he can’t play.
“It is about the team above all. It is a great result and it was a great collective performance. We showed the desire we have to get to the final.”
Dembele has scored 25 goals in 2025, while also recording 45 goals involvement 45 matches in all competitions this season.
Arsenal failed to score in a home UEFA Champions League game for the first time since a 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the last 16 in February 2016.
The second leg encounter is billed for next Wednesday at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
