Police Rescue Nasarawa Monarch Six Days After Abduction
Police in Nasarawa State have rescued the traditional ruler of Dari, Emmanuel Omanji, six days after he was abducted from his palace.
Omanji was kidnapped on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at his residence in Dari, located in the Kokona Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ramhan Nansel, announced the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, confirming that the monarch was rescued around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2.
“The command is pleased to report that the Sangarin Dari, who was abducted on May 28, was successfully rescued unhurt.
“The rescue operation took place in the Panwasa Mountains, Mada Station, following sustained pressure from the command’s Search and Rescue Team,” he said.
Following the rescue, police disclosed that the monarch was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. He has since reunited with his family.
Efforts to arrest the fleeing abductors are ongoing.
“Efforts are ongoing by our operatives to apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the abduction,” Nansel added.
The statement also conveyed the appreciation of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, to members of the public for their support during the operation.
Jauro-Mohammed acknowledged that public cooperation and timely intelligence were crucial to the successful rescue of the monarch. He further expressed gratitude to other security agencies and local vigilante groups who participated in the operation.
He noted that the synergy between the police and these groups significantly contributed to the outcome of the mission.
