Police Raise Alarm Over Increase In Missing Persons In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has reported a notable rise in the number of missing person complaints in the state.

The spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed the worrying development in a statement in Abeokuta.

“The command has observed an unprecedented increase in the number of missing persons across all age groups,” Odutola said.

She clarified that only a small portion of the people had been located, and unfortunately, many of them had not come home.

Omolola urged phone users to enable phone features that would help inform their families of their whereabouts in case of such incidents.

She further advised everyone to put their safety first and to be more watchful and security-conscious, adding that the command was dedicated to educating the public about this alarming trend because it is a proactive, community-focused force.

“We encourage everyone to prioritise their safety by maintaining a heightened sense of security to avoid becoming a victim.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has outlined essential measures and guidelines to keep residents informed about the most pressing issues.

“Based on insights from individuals who were rescued, the Commissioner advises parents not to allow their children to use commercial transportation services with strangers.

“Additionally, he encourages restless youth to activate the digital communication and sharing features on their mobile devices, especially when travelling or in moments of distress,” Odutola said.

The PPRO reaffirmed that the public could get help by calling the Police Public Relations Department at 09159578888 and the Police Control Room at 09164859299.
