The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Monday, said a series of coordinated operations across Delta and Kaduna States resulted in the killing of seven suspected kidnappers and the apprehension of five armed robbers.

Adejobi stated that the achievements were part of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued efforts to combat crimes through intelligence-led operations and a renewed commitment to public safety.

The operations reflect the force’s strategic focus on curbing violent crime in troubled hotspots across the country.

In Delta State, a joint operation on June 4, 2025, involving police operatives, local vigilantes, and anti-cult volunteers, targeted a group of suspected kidnappers operating along the Abraka Railway axis.

He said, “Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives engaged the suspects in a gun battle.

“The confrontation resulted in the neutralisation of four suspected kidnappers. Security agents recovered one AK-47 rifle and thirteen rounds of live ammunition at the scene.”

In another incident in Delta, officers from the CP-Special Assignment Team intercepted a shuttle bus along Ughelli-Patani Road near Ewhereni Junction.

According to Adejobi, “the occupants of the said vehicle opened fire in a bid to escape, leading to a gun duel. As a result, three of the suspected kidnappers were neutralised.

“One AK-47 rifle loaded with 18 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from them.”

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects belonged to a known kidnapping syndicate operating in the state.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Kaduna State, police operatives arrested five individuals suspected of being part of an armed robbery syndicate that has terrorised communities over a prolonged period.

According to the Force, the arrest followed the recovery of a Toyota Hilux stolen on May 28, 2025, from the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja.

Adejobi revealed that “the suspect, Mohammed Kabir, a male from Samaru Gusau, Zamfara State, was apprehended following a high-speed pursuit near Zaria town.”

Further investigations led to the recovery of a Toyota Camry found abandoned along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.

Adejobi added that “a Honda CR-V was also recovered following the arrest of one Emmanuel Oliseh, who had stolen the vehicle from Abuja, and a Toyota Camry (1998 model) was intercepted with three suspects, Ibrahim Bala, Abdulsalam Abdullahi, and Abdulrahman Muktar, who later confessed to stealing the vehicle from Nasarawa State.”

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun commended the officers involved in the operations for responding swiftly to intelligence and for their professionalism during the arrests.

He also appealed to the general public to support the police by volunteering timely and useful information to assist in maintaining safety and security nationwide.

According to him, “Community cooperation remains critical to the success of policing in Nigeria.”
