Pirates Launch Mass Attack On Rivers Waterways

Pirates, in a brazen attack, have kidnapped 18 people and hijacked boats on Rivers State waterways.

The attacks occurred in different areas of Port Harcourt, leaving residents in shock.

According to reports, a wooden cargo boat heading to Bonny was commandeered off its course with five persons aboard.

Additionally, 13 passengers travelling to Bille were abducted at Isaka in the Okrika Local Government Area.

Another incident occurred at Tourist Beach in Port Harcourt, where an outboard engine-powered speedboat was snatched.

Notably, the boat that was attacked at Isaka had previously been targeted on March 26, 2025, with six passengers abducted. One of the passengers, Hope Georgewill, was later killed by his assailants after a ransom was paid.

A senior police officer confirmed the attacks, stating that search and rescue efforts were underway to locate and exfiltrate the victims and the stolen boats
