The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, on Monday, commended the joint team of security operatives for foiling a kidnap attempt and rescuing 11 abducted persons in Danmusa Local Government Area.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the police said the rescue was made on Sunday, June 8, 2025, around 10:30 p.m., during a routine patrol.

Sadia revealed that a combined team of operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Operation Sharan Daji, Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes intercepted a group of armed bandits along the Danmusa–Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa LGA.

“On June 8, 2025, at about 2230 hrs (10:30 pm), a joint security team comprising Police operatives, the Military, DSS, a team of Operation Sharan Daji operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps and vigilantes while on a routine patrol along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza village road, Danmusa LGA, Katsina State, successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued eleven kidnapped victims,” the statement read.

It added that the operatives engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle as they attempted to escape with the abductees, who had been seized from different locations across the state.

“The team encountered a group of armed bandits attempting to escape with their victims kidnapped from various locations within the state when a gun battle ensued, leading to the successful rescue of all eleven victims, comprising nine females and two males, as the bandits fled the scene due to superior tactics and firepower.”

The police said an investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and prevent similar incidents.

“Investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and prevent further occurrences.”

CP Shehu applauded the operatives’ bravery and reaffirmed the Command’s determination to curb the menace of kidnapping through joint efforts with sister agencies.

He commended the operatives for their bravery as he reaffirmed the command’s commitment, in collaboration with sister security agencies, to fight the menace of kidnapping in the state.

He also urged members of the public to assist security agencies by reporting suspicious movements, noting that timely information could boost operational success.
