PHOTOS: EFCC Arrests 120 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Lagos
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 120 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos, comprising 95 males and 25 females.
The anti-graft agency disclosed this through its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
He revealed that the suspects were apprehended in various locations across Lagos following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance on their alleged involvement in cyber-related crimes.
“The arrest was the outcome of coordinated operations carried out based on credible intelligence and thorough surveillance on the activities of the suspects,” Oyewale stated.
During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered several items, including 26 exotic cars, expensive jewellery, smartphones, laptops, and numerous incriminating documents linked to cybercrime activities.
All 120 suspects are currently undergoing further investigation in EFCC custody.
According to Oyewale, they will be charged in court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to rid the country of internet fraud and bring perpetrators to justice.
