The Abia State Government has approved the appointment of members of the Board of Directors for the Abia State Microfinance and SME Bank as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s financial ecosystem and boost access to funding for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Ukoha, who said the appointments reflect the government’s commitment to building an inclusive and enterprise-driven economy through strategic leadership and financial reforms.

According to him, the newly appointed board members are expected to bring sector-specific expertise and provide oversight that aligns with the administration’s vision for sustainable economic development.

The composition of the board is as follows:
1. Mr. Friday Ndubuisi Eluwa – Chairman
2. Mr. Isaac Chimereze Okoro – Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer
3. Mrs. Nkechi John-Ajuga – Executive Director
4. Mr. Kings C. Akuma – Non-Executive Director
5. Mrs. Onyinye Patricia Ralph-Nwachukwu – Non-Executive Director
6. Mrs. Hope Chinyere Ubani Ukoma – Non-Executive Director
7. Mr. Onwuchekwa Okoronkwo Elendu – Company Secretary/Legal Adviser

Ukoha noted that the Board’s mandate is to deliver accessible financial services to the grassroots, support the growth of MSMEs, and catalyse broad-based economic growth across the state.

“The selection of these individuals is a strategic move aimed at repositioning the state’s financial landscape to ensure that entrepreneurs and small business owners have the necessary support to thrive,” he said.
