Nigeria At 64: Kaduna Gov Calls For Unity, Resilience Amid Hardship

Amidst tight security, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has urged Nigerians to draw strength from their resilience and capacity to unite in the face of adversity in the country.

In his address at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Tuesday to mark the nation’s 64th Independence Anniversary, Governor Sani, emphasised the significance of Nigeria’ Independence, achieved on October 1, 1960.

He acknowledged the country’s journey, marked by highs and lows, over the past 64 years, noted that the celebration was not only about the “freedom” achieved rather the collective efforts that had brought the nation so far.

“Today reminds us not only of our sovereignty but the courage and resilience that defines us as a people.

“We celebrate not just the freedom we have achieved, but the collective effort that has brought us thus far.

“We honour the struggle of our past, the sacrifices of our heroes, and the unwavering spirit of our people,” the governor said.

The governor recognized the current economic challenges faced by many households, attributing it to global economic systems and past mismanagement.

However, he expressed optimism, noting that the federal and state governments were implementing measures to alleviate citizens’ hardships.

“The Federal and state governments have stepped up short, medium, and long-term measures to mitigate the hardships of citizens.

“The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government has taken bold and painful economic measures to reinvent the economy and steady the ship of state,” the Governor added.

Despite the challenges, Sani highlighted Nigeria’s achievements, including 24 years of uninterrupted democratic governance and its growth into Africa’s largest economy.

“We have enjoyed uninterrupted democratic governance for 24 years. Economically, Nigeria has experienced economic growth, becoming Africa’s largest economy,” he noted.

Speaking further, Sani said in Kaduna State, his administration was focusing on agriculture, education, health, innovation, and entrepreneurship to transform the rural economy.

He also emphasised the importance of building bridges, fostering inclusivity, and nurturing hope while calling on Nigerians to work together to create a brighter future.

He said, “we are investing heavily in agriculture, education, health, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Transformation of the rural economy is on course, as many road projects have been completed and many others are ongoing across the state.

“We shall continue to build bridges, not walls, to foster inclusivity, not division, and to nurture hope, not despair,” he assured.

“Let us draw strength from our resilience and our capacity to unite in the face of adversity. Let us confront and embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

“Let us work together to create a brighter future, where every citizen can thrive and reach their full potential.”
