The Abia State government has presented N5m to the families of late Inspector Oyibo Shehu and late Mr. Victor Godliveth, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty in July.

The family of late Inspector Oyibo Shehu received a cheque of N3.5m while the family of late Mr. Victor Godliveth received a cheque of N1.5m naira.

Presenting the cheques to the both families on behalf of the governor, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, appreciated governor Alex Otti for the generous gesture in recognizing the sacrifices made by these brave officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The deceased officers according to police authority were said to be on patrol attached to the Rapid Response Squad along Ngwa Road by Mosque Junction in Aba when the assailants opened fire on them.

“However, during the exchange of gunfire, two of the assailants were neutralised, while others escaped with various degrees of bullet injuries,” the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command Maureen Chinaka said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, a police officer, Inspector Shehu Oyibo, three civilians who were later identified as Chika Godliveth ‘m’, Onyenaturuchi Jonah ‘m’ 32 years old, from Item, in Bende L.G.A of Abia State, and Eniobong Godsgift Clement ‘f’, 18 years old, from Akwa Ibom State were killed by bullets from the assailants.”
