NGX: Trading Volume and Deals Slump as Market Capitalization Stood at N130.4trn

Crypto Trader Accused of Meme Coin Manipulation as Profits Soar and Crash

Wednesday’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) saw declines in key performance indicators, as a total of 1,006,922,395 shares changed hands in 52,516 deals, with a corresponding market value of N40,552,889,871.35 traded, news.ng reports.

Market data shows a 13% decline in trading volume and a 32% decline in deals. The NGX market capitalization stood at N130.4 trillion.

Out of the 133 stocks listed for trading on Wednesday, 22 recorded gains, while 33 saw their share prices depreciate.

Among the gainers was Universal Insurance Company, whose share price rose by 10% to close at N1.21 per share. Omatek Ventures followed with a 9.78% rise in share price to close at N2.47.

Others included VFD Group, with a 9.71% appreciation in its share price to close the midweek session at N11.30 per share, while Livestock Feeds’ share price jumped 9.56% to close at N7.45 per share.

On the other hand, UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust recorded the highest loss as its share price depreciated by 10% to close at N6.75 per share, while Fortis Global Insurance suffered a 9.92% loss to close at N1.18 per share.

Other losers included DEAP Capital Management & Trust, which declined by 9.85% to close at N5.40 per share, while Chams recorded a 9.47% decline to close at N3.06.

Among equities with the highest volume of shares traded, Access Holdings recorded 233 million shares traded, followed by Fidelity Bank with 113 million. Wema Bank had 103 million shares traded, while Zenith Bank recorded 60.6 million shares traded.
