NGX: Investors See 32% Jump in Turnover as Market Cap Stood at N106.5trn

Industrial Goods Sector Leads Market Rally as Cement Giants Rebound

Trading session on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Tuesday ended with positives and negatives as turnover skyrocketed amid a reduction in volume and the number of deals.

A total of 736,140,408 shares valued at ₦24.37 billion changed hands in 45,994 deals, posing a 3% decrease in trading volume and 17% drop in deals as against Monday’s data.

However, investors saw an improved turnover by 32% following high trade volumes in key sectors.

Market capitalisation was at N106.5 trillion at the close of Tuesday’s session, signalling continued trust in the equities market.

Out of the 132 listed equities, data showed that 35 companies recorded gains and 34 recorded losses.

Leading the gainers’ chart, Industrial & Medical Gases recorded 10%, followed by Union Dicon Salt – 10%, Zichis Agro Allied Industries – 10% and Austin Laz & Company – 10%, seeing renewed investors’ confidence in small capital stocks.

On the bearish trend, Cutix closed 10% at ₦3.15 per share. Other losers are Omatek Ventures -10%, Union Homes Real Estate Investment -9.95%, and Sunu Assurances Nigeria -9.94%.

Stocks with high trading volume are Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO), recording 65.9 million shares. Followed by Chams with 55.7 million shares, Custodian & Allied closed at 49.8 million shares, while Universal Insurance Company closed at 36 million shares.
