The newly-appointed Commander, Nasarawa Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, CC Comfort Ochiba Asom, Friday, called for collaborative efforts with relevant stakeholders towards safety on Nasarawa roads.

Speaking in Lafia during a press conference, CC Asom outlined her roadmap towards an accident-free era, adding that it would only be achieved through collaborative efforts of all road users and monitoring agencies.

She expressed gratitude to the Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, for the opportunity to serve as the commander of Nasarawa sector.

She said, “I’m committed to leveraging the corps marshal’s six thrust agenda, corporate strategic goals, and revamped vision and mission to guide my assignment.”

She said the corps would sustain its strategies towards reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries through proper deployment of personnel and technology.

She stated that, “We shall ensure strategic partnerships, implementing technology-driven solutions for road traffic data management, and intensifying advocacy and public enlightenment efforts.

“We shall also seek legislation and enforcement of laws and rules towards attaining zero tolerance for speeding, overloading, and negligence, with a focus on vehicle safety checks and prompt crash response.”

CC Asom said the sector would continue to partner with sister agencies, religious organizations, traditional leaders, and critical stakeholders to achieve set objectives.

She appreciated the Governor of Nasarawa State, Gov Abdullahi Sule, for the enabling environment his administration has provided in the state, and urged the general public to adhere to road safety regulations to stay alive.
