His current club, Fiorentina, will face the Red Devils in their final pre-season fixture of the 2025/26 campaign.
Speaking about De Gea, Fernandes said he could not wait to see his friend again and hoped the veteran goalkeeper would enjoy his return to United this weekend.
“David, my friend, I cannot wait to see you at the Snapdragon Cup,” Fernandes stated, as quoted by the club’s website.
