Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have rescued seven kidnapped victims in Taraba State during a coordinated operation to dismantle criminal hideouts.

The victims were abducted on August 3, 2025, along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari Road by suspected kidnappers.

According to military sources, the rescue mission took place over two days—August 5 and 6—after troops stormed the area.

Security expert Zagazola Makama reported that four victims were found unharmed in Chinkai Forest on the first day of the operation.

The remaining three, all women, were rescued the following day in Owedi community, Wukari Local Government Area.

The kidnappers reportedly fled after facing superior firepower from the troops, abandoning their captives.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, praised the soldiers for their bravery and commitment.

He said the operation marked a significant victory in the ongoing fight against kidnapping in the state and vowed to maintain pressure on criminal groups across Taraba
