Man beheaded over land dispute in Ebonyi
A middle-aged man, Dick Nnachi, has been beheaded in Oso-Edda, a community in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
DAILY POST reports that Oso-Edda and Amasiri community in Afikpo LGA have been engaged in a longstanding communal conflict over land ownership.
The police spokesperson condemned the killing, describing it as “wicked and inhumane”.
“We are aware of the incident and our men have been deployed to the disputed area.
“An investigation is ongoing to determine the root cause and bring those responsible to justice,” he said.
Ukandu assured residents that efforts are underway to restore peace and prevent further escalation of violence in the area.
