Leverkusen star Xhaka backs Boniface to shine for Super Eagles

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka has backed his international teammate, Victor Boniface, to become an important player for Nigeria.
Boniface has struggled on the international scene despite his impressive club form.
The 23-year-old has failed to find the net in 11 appearances for Nigeria.
Despite criticism trailing the forward’s performance for the three-time African, Xhaka believed he has what it takes to thrive for the three-time African champions.
“It’s always difficult because you don’t have a lot of time to adapt, enough time to work through the tactical setup everyday with the same coach, and same players, but, everyone wants to play for their country,” Xhaka told OmaSports TV.
“He’s important for us(Leverkusen), and for sure, he’ll be important for Nigeria in the future and I’ll say stay calm because he’s a great guy and a great footballer.”
Boniface is currently recuperating from the injury he sustained on International duty last week.
