Lagos Task Force Raids Black Spots, Arrests 19 Illicit Drug Dealers

In a crackdown on illicit drug activities, the Lagos State Task Force has arrested 19 suspects during a raid on criminal hideouts at Gowon Estate and its surrounding streets in the Iyana-Ipaja area of the state.

The operation is part of a wider effort to rid the state of drug-related crimes and maintain public safety.

According to the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, CSP Adetayo Akerele, the operation was a reflection of the agency’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities that threaten the peace and security of the state.

During the operation, officers discovered a cache of hard drugs—including Colorado, Indian hemp, and other narcotics—hidden in parked vehicles and within the hideouts.

“This operation reflects our zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities that threaten the peace and security of the state.

“All the suspects will face the full weight of the law as investigations continue. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to authorities using our ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative,” Akerele said in a statement issued on Wednesday by the agency’s spokesperson, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem.

Several large bags of narcotics were reportedly found in the boots of cars parked in the area, further underscoring the scale of illegal operations taking place in the community.

The raid marks the fifth strategic operation by the task force in the area, as part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate the sale and abuse of illegal substances as well as clamp down on hooliganism.

The Lagos State Task Force, under the leadership of Akerele, continues to emphasise its commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for all residents.
