Kalu Commends Otti For Rebuilding Abia
Secretary to the Abia state government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu has commended the state governor, Alex Otti for working hard to rebuild the state and changing its narrative.
Prof. Kalu gave the commendation at the Festival of Nine Lessons with Carols organised by the fellowship prayer group, Office of the Secretary to the State Government held at the Banquet hall, Government House, Umuahia stated that this Christmas on Wednesday.
He informed that for Abians, the Christmas is a time of new beginning, new government, new mindset, new set of processes, new outcome and a new narrative, pointing out that this is a time to celebrate Abia’s redemption as well as embrace that brand of hope that inspires action that can rewrite history for good.
The SSG stressed the need for all to remember the true essence of Christmas which is a sober reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior of the whole world.
He also noted that this Christmas brings the message of hope which teaches us that although current indices may be both disappointing and depressing, advised all to look forward to a better tomorrow.
The SSG however called on all to use this yuletide to embrace hope over fear, friendliness over animosity and to renew their commitments to themselves and to one another irrespective of their differences while wishing them a wonderful Christmas and a very fulfilled new year.
Speaking on behalf of the management and staff of the office of the SSG, the permanent Secretary, Lady Maduka Ogechukwu Esq, thanked all for coming to celebrate the event with them and prayed to God to grant them journey mercies back to their different destinations.
In his sermon, a guest speaker, from the Apostolic church, Rev. David Gospel, who spoke on the topic ‘ Now’ explained that now that we have the opportunity to do good,we should not hesitate to do it.
Rev Gospel gave an example of a biblical David who when he became a king, looked for someone in the house of king Saul that he would show mercy for the sake of Jonathan, stressing that the good that one did while alive, may speak for him or her even when long gone.
He advised all to emulate Jesus Christ, who is being celebrated this season, to avail themselves of the opportunity of helping others, which according to him, is the essence of Christmas.
