The Imo State Police Command has played host to 57 students of Senior Course 47 from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, as part of a two-day strategic study tour of the South-East region.

The delegation, led by Brigadier General N.N. Rume, was received at the Police Command Headquarters in Owerri by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, DCP Hammajoda Barka.

In his welcome address, DCP Barka commended the AFCSC for promoting inter-agency cooperation, noting that collaborative efforts and intelligence sharing remain vital in tackling contemporary security threats.

He emphasised that the visit would foster stronger ties between the military and the police, particularly in the area of internal security operations.

A major highlight of the visit was a presentation by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Adamu Amadu, titled “Harnessing Grassroots Intelligence for Enhanced Internal Security”.

The session sparked an interactive discussion between the visiting officers and the command’s leadership, underscoring the role of community engagement in combating crime.

Present at the event were senior police officers, including DCP Hamzat Abdulkadir and DCP Danshuir Abuja, as well as members of the command’s management team.

Also in attendance was General Joseph Ogbonna (Rtd.), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Affairs, who praised the initiative and reaffirmed the Imo State Government’s continued support for security agencies.

Speaking on behalf of the AFCSC students, Major Oguneye expressed appreciation to the Imo State Police Command for the warm reception and insightful engagement.

He noted that the experience would further enrich the participants’ understanding of policing and internal security dynamics within the region.

The visit forms part of the AFCSC’s curriculum aimed at enhancing the strategic knowledge and leadership capacity of senior military officers through field interactions and practical exposure to inter-agency security operations.
