Operatives attached to the Kaduna State Police Command have busted an illegal factory producing adulterated soya bean oil in the state.

The state command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation was carried out by a team of State Intelligence Department (SID) personnel on May 5, 2025, at about 1100 hours, following an intelligence report about the activities of a syndicate involved in the production of fake soya bean oil.

According to the police spokesman, the factory was located on a fenced plot of land along Mamadi Road, Maraban Jos, in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

Hassan said operatives arrested three suspects at the scene, namely Zailani Shuaibu (33 years old), the owner of the illegal factory; Nasiru Usman (24 years old); and Salisu Usman (49 years old).

He added that during the raid, the police recovered several exhibits, including two drums of suspected raw materials, fifteen 25-litre jerry cans containing unfinished products, two 25-litre jerry cans of finished adulterated soya bean oil, and one empty drum used for local processing of the product.

“The Kaduna State Police Command is committed to protecting the public and ensuring that those who engage in criminal activities are brought to justice,” CP Muhammad said.

He said the case is currently under investigation at the SID Headquarters in Kaduna, while adding that the police are working to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s activities and bring all those involved to justice.
