IBB, Ortom Among 9,532 Defaulters On FCT Land Allocations..Wike’s Aide

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, is poised to revoke land allocations from defaulters in Abuja, including high-profile figures like former President Ibrahim Babangida and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the FCT Minister, disclosed this during a Friday appearance on Arise TV. Olayinka warned that the government would not spare any individual who fails to regularize their land allocations, regardless of status or relationship with the minister.

“The minister has made it clear that neither friendship nor enmity will influence his decision. If you owe on your land allocation, you risk losing it,” Olayinka stated.

According to him, 9,532 individuals, including Babangida and Ortom, have collected land allocations but failed to meet payment obligations. Advertisements listing defaulters’ names have been placed in several newspapers to urge compliance.

Olayinka emphasized that Wike’s resolve is firm: “Even if you are the minister’s wife, friend, or ally, if you do not comply with the rules, you will lose your land.” He urged defaulters to regularize their ownership to avoid revocation and backlash.

This announcement comes amid mounting criticism of Wike’s recent demolition and land revocation initiatives in the FCT, which have sparked debates on fairness and governance.

The clock is ticking for defaulters, and as Olayinka pointed out, the government will proceed with revocations if compliance is not met promptly.
