A former senator, Ibrahim Musa, who served as the representative of Niger North Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, has died at the age of 63.

Musa was a member of the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, during his tenure in the Senate.

He passed away in Abuja on Thursday, August 7, 2025, after a brief illness.

The Niger State Government officially confirmed the news through the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Alhaji Abubakar Usman.

The government expressed sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the late senator’s family, friends and the people of Niger State.

Senator Musa was known for his active participation in the Senate during his term, where he contributed to legislative debates and represented the interests of his constituents.

Colleagues and political observers recall him as a committed public servant who worked toward development and progress in his district.

His death represents the loss of a notable political figure in Niger State and in Nigeria’s contemporary democratic landscape. Tributes have started pouring in from political allies, community leaders, and citizens who recall his contributions to public service.

The family is expected to announce funeral arrangements and further details in due course.
