Eid-el-Kabir: Nigeria Has Become Killing Field Under Your Watch — PDP Tells Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended its felicitations to Nigerians on the occasion of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebration while calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration to use the spiritual significance of the season to embrace truth, accountability, and an end to profligacy in governance.
In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP urged Nigerians not to lose faith despite the economic and security challenges plaguing the country. The party emphasised the need for selfless leadership inspired by the teachings of Eid-el-Kabir.
“Our party congratulates Nigerians on the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir and urges them to use the occasion to reinforce their faith in the unfailing love, kindness and provision of the Almighty Allah despite the prevailing economic, security and social challenges confronting our nation,” Ologunagba said.
He, however, used the occasion to lambast the Tinubu administration over what the PDP described as “reckless mismanagement of national resources”, worsening insecurity, and growing despair among citizens.
“The PDP tasks the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration with using the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to imbibe the fear of God and end their profligacy, exploitation, deceit and manipulations that have brought untold hardship to Nigerians,” the statement continued.
Highlighting the deteriorating security situation, the party decried what it called the “pervading sense of gloom” and accused the APC government of allowing Nigeria to become a “large killing field”, where citizens live at the mercy of terrorists, bandits, and criminals.
The opposition party urged the federal government to reverse policies it deemed anti-people, including the high cost of fuel, electricity tariffs, and charges on essential services. It also demanded transparency in borrowing and the recovery of looted public funds.
“The APC administration must immediately end the mortgaging of our nation through reckless borrowing that cannot be tied to any corresponding life-enhancing project or programme in the country,” the PDP asserted.
“Instead, the APC government must take immediate steps to recover the over ₦30 trillion reportedly stolen by known APC leaders through various fraudulent oil deals and other funds frittered from government agencies under the APC administration.”
The PDP challenged President Tinubu to “redeem his image” in the remaining two years of his tenure by prioritising the welfare of Nigerians in line with the sacrificial spirit of Eid-el-Kabir.
“President Tinubu must be more sensitive towards the well-being of Nigerians, in line with the demand for selflessness and submission to the Will and Command of the Almighty Allah, which the Eid-el-Kabir teaches,” Ologunagba said.
The PDP encouraged Nigerians to stay hopeful, remain patriotic, and pray for divine intervention in the nation’s affairs.
“The PDP charges Nigerians not to give up hope but to remain patriotic, continue to share with one another at this trying time and pray constantly for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the nation,” the party added.
